It looks like a regular 2A bracket, yet the the first 200 or so 2As off the assembly line had a rear bracket with extra material and two holes in it like the one in this pic.See all. After much thought, I have decided to upgrade the engine in my 1949 CJ2A to a Kubota Turbo Diesel. I love diesels and the Kubota V2203 is a nice swap in the Willys Jeeps. I inherited this Jeep in 2002 after my father passed away. It was his little baby. He bought it in 1974 from the grandson of the original owner.

Anyway looking to do the following to the CJ2a over the next couple of weeks and months: V1903 Kubota Diesel Conversion. Replace all gauges with Autometer Z Gauges. Replace Radiator with Aluminum Radiator. Upgrade all the fuel lines. Inspect/Upgrade suspension (if needed) Upgrade lighting to LEDs (headlights and taillights)

The coolant system was muddy/gunky with rust-colored debris & the thermostat in particular was badly corroded.Proud father of a Marine, Army Dentist, Navy Pilot and a Princess. LIFE IS GOOD! If you ever pulled out a filter that had been in a year or two and saw all the gunk on it you'd have your answer; yes, you need the oil filter. The oil filter on the CJ2A is called a "by pass" oil filtration system.
