3. 1. Nov 17, 2022. #1. I just got a 2021 1500 3.0 Duramax with 15k on it. It is the Black Widow. I'm going to make a post about this strange squeal sound I hear under medium acceleration. Sounds like a balloon letting the air out while pinching the flap. IDK, I have had many turbos and this is not the turbo whistle.It may be possible that the injection pump is failing and is causing the low power or the bog down. There are also some concerns with the fuel feed line from the fuel tank becoming pinched or collapsing and this causes a lack of fuel.These all need to be checked and tested to see if any of these are at fault.THe Air Dog 165 immediately cures the problem. THere are two problems with fuel in our trucks. First is what we have been discussing, that is the lack of total quantity under max demand situations. THe second and possibly just as devestating is the fact that churned up diesel fuel fills itself with microscopic air bubbles.The 6.2 easily beats the Duramax in acceleration thanks to its big horsepower advantage. But when it comes to towing, GM increased the towing capacity of the 3.0 Duramax for 2022 and it now has the same 13,300 lb maximum towing capacity as the 6.2 V8. Where the Duramax gets a significant edge is in fuel economy.
