I've heard of people break them at 500hp or so but as long as you have a bigger trans cooler and watch your temps it'll last a long time. A well built 4l60e can handle some serious power. We have cars running 500-600 and 700 rwhp as the power increases of course the odds of failure do increase but we have had very good results. N.A lot of the L15 civics have had upgraded turbos on ethanol blend making from 300-350 whp with some softened torque curve, it's really having too much torque early is what blows a rod through the block. If you ask me you're more likely to blow a rod through running a stock turbo on ethanol making 250-270 whp with over 330 wtq at low RPMs
