Most of this groundwater is used in irrigation since 54% of the land within the Ogallala Aquifer region is used for agriculture.This dataset, published in 2003, contains the shallowest principal aquifers of the conterminous United States, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, portrayed as polygons.
