The Earth Energy and Environment Center is a 140,000 ft2, $78.5 million state-of-the-art complex consisting of Ritchie and Slawson Halls on the University of Kansas campus. Its focus is to build on KU’s strengths into areas where KU has national prominence in geology, energy, and environment research and education. The south tower, Slawson Hall, 1420 Naismith Drive, was made possible by a $16 million gift from the family of the late Donald Slawson of Wichita, founder of an oil and gas exploration firm and a 1955 KU graduate. It focuses on technology transfer, providing practical applications for discoveries and developments in engineering and geology.
